Meredith Quill is a minor but important character in the 2014 film, Guardians of the Galaxy. She was the mother of Peter Quill.
Biography[]
Meredith was born and grew up in the late 1960s/early 70's. She had a relationship with Ego the Living Planet (who disguised himself as a human). Meredith had a child with him and named him Peter Jason. Meredith is later diagnosed with cancer by her ex-lover, who planted a tumor in her brain. She raised her son until he was eight years old and gave her son two videotapes with her favorite songs on Awesome Mix Vol. 1 and Awesome Mix Vol. 2. However the latter of the two was something she had gift wrapped. As she died, Meredith begged her son for his hand, but Peter did not take it.
Later after her death, Peter was adopted by Centurian and Ravenger, Yondu Udonta who kept Peter safe from his own father and even wouldn't speak of Peter's father to Quill when he was a child. Twenty-six years later, Peter took the nickname Star-Lord, which was what his mother first called him and would carry the Awesome Mix Volume 1 and remember her for who she was.
