Mr. Quill is a minor character in the film. He was the grandfather of Peter Quill, who was later raised by Yondu Udonta and became known as the "infamous' outlaw, Star-Lord.

In 1988, his daughter, Meredith was diagnosed with brain cancer.
He took his grandson to see her before her death. Peter was distraught by her death. After Mr. Quill took Peter out of the hospital room, Peter ran away. He grew up becoming known as the famous Star-Lord and formed the Guardians of the Galaxy
Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2[]
In 2014, Quill was running (or rather driving) for his life when Ego began having his plants consuming the earth. However, he was bewildered when the expansion had stopped, as he was still in his car at the time.

- There was an original ending where an now older Peter Quill's Grandfather has a picture of his daughter and grandson and looks up to the sky, implying he knew that Peter was abducted. However, it was cut because it was deemed "too sad." [1]
